Athens, November 13, 2025 – A significant development in Greek–U.S. relations was marked today by the first official visit of the new U.S. Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly A. Guilfoyle, to the Hellenic Ministry of National Defense, where she met with Defense Minister Nikos Dendias.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the further deepening of the strategic defense partnership between Greece and the United States, focusing on enhancing interoperability and expanding joint training initiatives.
Ambassador Guilfoyle announced that U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has approved Greece’s inclusion in the U.S. State Partnership Program (SPP)—a key step that strengthens cooperation with the U.S. National Guard.
The program will allow Greece access to new military capabilities and joint training opportunities, while also fostering stronger ties across government, business, and education, taking the bilateral partnership to new heights.
Minister Dendias wished Ambassador Guilfoyle “every success in her new duties,” emphasizing the importance of Athens–Washington cooperation for security and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.
